Surf School Essaouira

No experience necessary! Our beginner surf lessons in Essaouira are designed for complete beginners. Our certified instructors will teach you everything from ocean safety and wave reading to proper paddling technique and standing up on the board. We start with beach theory before heading into the water.

Essaouira offers excellent surf conditions year-round! The best surf season runs from September to April with consistent Atlantic swells and offshore winds. Summer months (June-August) are perfect for beginners with smaller, gentler waves. Water temperature ranges from 16°C in winter to 22°C in summer.

We provide all surf equipment including surfboards, wetsuits, and leashes. You just need to bring: swimwear, towel, sunscreen (reef-safe recommended), water bottle, and a positive attitude! If you have your own wetsuit or rash guard, feel free to bring it.

Our standard surf lessons are 2 hours long, which includes beach warm-up, theory session, and active time in the water. This duration is ideal for learning without getting too tired. We also offer half-day (3-4 hours) and full-day surf coaching packages for faster progression.

Essaouira Bay is perfect for beginners with its sandy bottom, consistent small waves, and protected conditions. For intermediate surfers, we take you to Sidi Kaouki (20km south) which offers more powerful waves and less crowds. Our instructors choose the best spot based on your level and daily conditions.

Yes! We offer surfboard and wetsuit rentals for experienced surfers. Rental includes softboard or hardboard (based on your level), wetsuit, and leash. Daily and weekly rental packages are available. Our team can also provide local surf spot recommendations and tide information.

Absolutely! Essaouira is one of the safest places to learn surfing in Morocco. We offer kids surf lessons (ages 6+) with smaller boards, shallow water practice, and extra supervision. The sandy beach and gentle waves make it ideal for young surfers. Parent supervision is welcome!

We maintain a maximum ratio of 6 students per instructor for group surf lessons to ensure personalized attention and safety. For faster progress, we recommend semi-private lessons (2-3 students) or private one-on-one surf coaching where you get 100% instructor focus.

Yes! We offer all-inclusive surf holiday packages that include daily surf lessons, equipment, and accommodation at carefully selected hotels, riads, or our partner surf hostel Riad Maqam. Packages range from 3-day surf weekends to 2-week intensive surf camps. Check our Packages page for details.

Safety is our top priority. If conditions are unsafe (too big waves, strong currents, or storms), we will reschedule your lesson or offer an alternative activity like surf theory, video analysis, or a trip to a more sheltered surf spot. You can also receive a full refund if rescheduling doesn't work.
